I am a data scientist on the the Ads Infrastructure team, optimizing the infrastructure that delivers ads for all Facebook products.

I work on:

  • Capacity: lead the planning effort across the 200+ person org in order to model capacity needs and ensure that we have the capacity necessary to support our systems

  • Reliability: run experiments to determine the health of our services

  • Developer Efficiency: design metrics to quantify efficiency and identify bottlenecks in the development process

Internship 2018

I was an analyst at McKinsey.

I worked on an analytics transformation project for a business-to-business client:

  • Developed data-driven product for client to identify and regain lost customers based on the analysis of historical order patterns, generating a potential revenue value of $100M

  • Conducted training workshops with regional VPs to roll-out the tool to sales teams

  • Helped the client set up its analytics organization

Internship 2017

I worked in product management at Capital One, where I:

  • Owned the long term strategy and short-term product features for the customer service platform

  • Collaborated with engineers across 10 different teams to define a roadmap for decommissioning and consolidating 20 legacy platforms over a projected 3 year migration period

  • Led the implementation of a new associate-facing phone disclosure interface. Responsible for all aspects of the feature, including interaction design, feature scoping, and release planning

Qi also has experience across the financial services industry.

He was a software engineer at Balyasny Asset Management, a hedge fund with ~$30B assets under management, where he landed data pipelines to provide data and insights to inform investment decisions.

Before that, he spent a year in institutional banking at Citi’s Latin American headquarters, building out a revenue model to quantify strategic growth opportunities in the region.
